Budding entrepreneurs at Tollbar Academy have received a helping hand from Jars and Bottles.
Jars and Bottles donates 72 glass jars to the Year 10 students at Tollbar Academy, who have ambitiously set up their own business from scratch as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme. This scheme is designed to inspire young people to develop their entrepreneurial skills by encouraging them to come up with a viable business idea, raise the necessary finance, and ultimately bring their product to market with the goal of making a profit. As part of the scheme, the students conceptualized a business idea revolving around presenting gifts in glass jars. Recognizing the potential of this creative idea, Pattesons Glass stepped in with a generous contribution of a free case of jars to help package their products.
Sam Graves, representing Jars and Bottles speaks about the donation,
expressed his enthusiasm about the initiative: “It is both refreshing and exciting to see young people practice the real-life skills that are needed to make a successful business.” The Tollbar Academy students are now busy making the final preparations for their first trading day, which is scheduled for February 7. On this day, they will showcase their products at a stall in Freshney Place shopping centre, located in Grimsby. The team is hopeful that their products will appeal to the public and generate a profit, thereby putting them in contention for prizes in the Young Enterprise Scheme at both regional and national levels. Christian Fawcett, a student involved in the project, extended his gratitude to Jars and Bottles, saying, “It is encouraging to see established businesses supporting us, and we hope to impress them by doing well with our products at Freshney Place.” Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of these enterprising students and their budding business venture!
